SUMMARY:Meditation and Chi Gong
DESCRIPTION:On Sunday mornings\, we have two offerings in our Meditation Room. \nFirst\, there is Chi Gong from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. This practice is Chanting to clear organs and/or Chanting to clear chakras as originally taught by Dr. Steven Aung. Facilitated by Victoria Oginski. \nYou are also welcome to join us from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. for silent meditation. \nFor the past nine years\, the group has been led by Victoria Oginski\, who has been a dedicated meditator for over 45 years. She is a Buddhist and has studied with many extraordinary Buddhist masters over the years in Canada\, Nepal\, India\, and Tibet. Although informed by Buddhist principles\, the facilitation is more universal in approach and everyone is welcome. \nThere is no formal fee\, but please consider dana (donation) to VanU or the Refugee Committee.

On Earth Day we focus on the climate crisis; it will not tolerate postponing action to a later date. Karen Crosby will relate her personal story of how a high school teacher became an advocate for political change in her city of New Westminster and a public educator on climate solutions. Her story will inspire you to take intelligent action. \nDownload the Order of Service\nRelated Reading\nWeekly services\n\nWe gather every Sunday morning at 11am in our Sanctuary at 49th and Oak and online at vanu.ca/live. Worship creates connections within\, among\, and beyond us\, calling us to our better selves\, calling us to live with wisdom and compassion. \n\nAfter service\, we gather in Hewett Centre for Coffee and Social Hour. DESCRIPTION:Our Whole Lives (OWL) sexuality education for Grades 7-9\n(birthdays in 2011\, 2012\, 2013)\nThis series runs for 25 Sundays\, October 5 to May 31 (usually 11am – 12:30pm)\, excluding holiday weekends. Dates and times may be adjusted during the year to accommodate participant and facilitator needs. \nCheck the OWL calendar here for up-to-date information on dates and times. \nThe workshops are written to include ages 11-14\, grades 7-9\, our current demographics are weighted to the younger end. DESCRIPTION:Please join us for our annual Cherry Blossom Potluck Picnic. We will meet in the Fireside Room to share a meal while watching beautiful cherry blossom scenes from Japan and Vancouver. There will  be an opportunity to write haikus. Here is a post about the creative haikus that were written last year. There is an International Haiku competition and everyone is welcome to enter. \nPlease bring your favourite food to share or sign up to help with the dishes. Please use this spreadsheet to enter your name. \nAfter a quick cleanup\, we will then venture out to view the cherry blossom trees along Fremlin Street and possibly Tisdale Park.
