SUMMARY:Circle Dance: Celebrating the Wisdom of Women and the Earth
DESCRIPTION:We are on the verge of International Working Women’s Day (March 8) and just a few weeks from the Spring Equinox. Marg Piercy’s poem\, A Strong Woman evokes the ways women are strong: “A strong woman is a woman determined to do something others are determined not be done…” \n“Strong is what we make\neach other. Until we are all strong together\,\na strong woman is a woman strongly afraid.” \nThe Spring Equinox evokes the resilience of life\, the determination to grow from seedlings to fruit. \nWe will share dances that bring awareness of the strength\, resilience and wisdom of women and the earth. Women like Boudica/ Boadicea\, a symbol of the struggle for justice and independence in Britain during the Roman Empire or Julien of Norwich\, who assured those who came to see her that “all will be well\,” during the black death in the middle ages.  In more recent times\, Joanna Macy shared the Elm Dance to help heal the collective trauma of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. We will share these dances as well as others that are about survival\, resilience and the hope of renewal that spring offers. \nAll are welcome to join this circle — whether you are new to circle dance or experienced. All dances will be taught.

The morning service launches the month’s worship and small-group theme with different explorations of that theme in programming following a light lunch. DESCRIPTION:Our Whole Lives (OWL) sexuality education for Grades 7-9\n(birthdays in 2011\, 2012\, 2013)\nThis series runs for 25 Sundays\, October 5 to May 31 (usually 11am – 12:30pm)\, excluding holiday weekends. Dates and times may be adjusted during the year to accommodate participant and facilitator needs. \nCheck the OWL calendar here for up-to-date information on dates and times. \nThe workshops are written to include ages 11-14\, grades 7-9\, our current demographics are weighted to the younger end. SUMMARY:Breaking Bread: Skill Share and Community Dinner
DESCRIPTION:Skill Sharing: Fibre Arts of All Kinds\nDo you sew\, mend\, knit\, crochet\, or felt? Have you wanted to learn or expand your knowledge and confidence? Do you like sharing what you are currently creating?  Would you enjoy teaching folks of any age how to fix a hole in their favourite shirt or sew on a button? \nBack before 2020 interrupted life\, we used to have a monthly Make and Mend circle to extend and repurpose garments and fabric in our lives. This month’s dinner is an opportunity to share a skill you have around fibre arts\, learn from others\, get help fixing something and enjoy a meal together! \nWhat should I bring?\nPlease bring your curiosity\, something you want to mend\, or a project you are working on. \nFor our meal please bring something to share; a side dish\, dessert\, bread\, or drinks so that we will always have enough to fill our tummies as well as our spirits. Hosts will provide a couple large main dishes such as soup or pasta.
