SUMMARY:Exploration Sunday: Learning from Ancestors
DESCRIPTION:Exploration Sundays happen the first Sunday of each month and are meant to be an animating time for the whole congregation. The morning service launches the month’s worship and small-group theme with different explorations of that theme in programming following a light lunch. The intent is to engage everyone in the community-building and learning that this approach offers\, and make it easier for other groups to schedule events without competing programs. \nWorship Service 11:00 – 11:45 am\nNovember’s meaning making theme is  “the practice of learning from our ancestors’ experiences. Many of our ancestors lived through times of great upheaval. What can they offer us right now?” \nRev Shawn will reflect on a Home for All Souls\, and as we enter a time of meditation\, we will lift up the names of those we have loved who have died. To culminate\, we will create our Ancestor Shrine together for remembrance. \nClick here for the service page\, with the Order of Service and other useful links\nExploration Groups 12:15 – 1:30 pm\nThe service will be followed by a light lunch and then Exploration Groups are open to interested folks of all ages. DESCRIPTION:Meaning Making Together: Forming new Covenant Groups\nThe Lifespan Programs Team is excited to promote a monthly series of family centred events for building community\, friendships\, skills\, and fun. Monthly themes revolve around connections\, skill sharing\, holidays\, rest\, and silliness. \nSeptember 27th is our first dinner – we are forming new Covenant Groups for the year and connecting with folks who have been meeting together for years to share wisdom on the beauty and depth of small groups.  Childcare staff is present to help keep an eye on children’s safety and inclusion so parents can participate freely. \nWho should plan to come? \n\nFamilies of all varieties and ages – however you define family\nLeaders or members of current covenant groups/identity groups that are open to new members\nAnyone who would like to join or form a small group this year\nPeople who have taken the small group facilitator training and could co-lead a new group\nMembers of current covenant groups willing to share their experience and wisdom\n\nWhat should I bring?\nPlease bring a side dish\, dessert\, or bread if you’re able. We will have a couple large pots of soup for our tummies and souls.

SUMMARY:Volunteer Orientation for Summer Children's Group
DESCRIPTION:Vancouver Unitarians is largely lay-led over the summer while ministry staff have vacation and study time in preparation for the new program year.  It is important for children of all ages to feel included and cared for no matter what time of year they attend. \nThis orientation is to support those able to volunteer to be available for children on 2 or more Sundays between July 6th and August 31st.
