Many do not know the story of how this beautiful campus came to be. It’s important that our story is known. \nOn Sunday\, November 5th at 12:15 following the service there will be a short dedication in the courtyard of a plaque that sets out the original vision of those involved; Rev Phillip Hewett and Wolfgang Gerson (architect). DESCRIPTION:Join us for a fundraising lunch sponsored by the Partner Church committee on Sunday\, Oct. 29 at Noon in Hewett Centre. \nOur donations over the last three years have allowed our partner congregation in Rutana\, Burundi to complete most of the building of their new church so that it now usable and services can begin. This year’s donations provided funds to install windows\, flooring and a bathroom. As they have no urgent need for immediate funding and because they are currently going through a transition in leadership\, the Partner Church team has decided to donate profits from this Sunday’s lunch to an urgent need of our own – the reconstruction of the portico between Hewett Centre and the Sanctuary.

DESCRIPTION:IPA invites members of the congregation to join us on a visit to Conceptions of White at the Vancouver Art Gallery. \nThis highly thought-provoking show examines the visual legacy of racism and colonialism\, illustrating how conceptions of a “White race” emerged in visual representations and have historically distorted perceptions of the inherent worth and dignity of our fellow human beings\, as well as how artists are unsettling those stereotypes today.  Gerta Moray will facilitate discussion during and after the visit. \nMeet us at the VAG on the 3rd floor at 10:30 am. At 12:00 pm we will adjourn for discussion\, coffee\, and refreshment at the VAG Bistro. \nIf you are interested and cannot come on Oct 25\, there can be second group visit on Friday November 3. Shawn and Kiersten Moore on September 20th\, 12 pm\, at the Vancouver Art Gallery to stand in solidarity with trans and non-binary people against protests planned demanding the role-back of trans rights and inclusion in our schools. \nWe do not know what to expect with these protests or how many people will turn out for the two conflicting protests advertised. The walk will proceed around the Deer Lake Trails for about two hours. \nOur UCV hiking group is open to all. The trail has minimal elevation gains\, and we encourage walkers to go at their own pace.
