DESCRIPTION:The Vancouver Unitarians are proud to host Amanda Burrows\, Executive Director of First United\, for a presentation and discussion on housing justice and reconciliation in the Downtown Eastside. \nIn her work for housing justice\, Amanda has been a prominent advocate for affordable housing\, tenant protections\, and in opposition to displacement of DTES residents. In her work with First United\, Amanda has helped spearhead a multi-storey redevelopment of their historic property in partnership with an Indigenous housing provider. \nJoin us Sunday\, Sept. 21st to learn about housing justice in the DTES and this inspiring example of reconciliation in action. The forum will begin at 12:30 p.m.

Monthly themes revolve around connections\, skill sharing\, holidays\, rest\, and silliness. \nSeptember 27th is our first dinner – we are forming new Covenant Groups for the year and connecting with folks who have been meeting together for years to share wisdom on the beauty and depth of small groups.  Childcare staff is present to help keep an eye on children’s safety and inclusion so parents can participate freely. \nWho should plan to come? \n\nFamilies of all varieties and ages – however you define family\nLeaders or members of current covenant groups/identity groups that are open to new members\nAnyone who would like to join or form a small group this year\nPeople who have taken the small group facilitator training and could co-lead a new group\nMembers of current covenant groups willing to share their experience and wisdom\n\nWhat should I bring?\nPlease bring a side dish\, dessert\, or bread if you’re able. Facilitated by Victoria Oginski. \nYou are also welcome to join us from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. for silent meditation. \nFor the past nine years\, the group has been led by Victoria Oginski\, who has been a dedicated meditator for over 45 years. She is a Buddhist and has studied with many extraordinary Buddhist masters over the years in Canada\, Nepal\, India\, and Tibet. Although informed by Buddhist principles\, the facilitation is more universal in approach and everyone is welcome. \nThere is no formal fee\, but please consider dana (donation) to VanU or the Refugee Committee.

Facilitated by Victoria Oginski. \nYou are also welcome to join us from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. for silent meditation. \nFor the past nine years\, the group has been led by Victoria Oginski\, who has been a dedicated meditator for over 45 years. She is a Buddhist and has studied with many extraordinary Buddhist masters over the years in Canada\, Nepal\, India\, and Tibet. Although informed by Buddhist principles\, the facilitation is more universal in approach and everyone is welcome. \nThere is no formal fee\, but please consider dana (donation) to VanU or the Refugee Committee.

SUMMARY:Meditation and Chi Gong
DESCRIPTION:On Sunday mornings\, we have two offerings in our Meditation Room. \nFirst\, there is Chi Gong from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. This practice is Chanting to clear organs and/or Chanting to clear chakras as originally taught by Dr. Steven Aung. Facilitated by Victoria Oginski. \nYou are also welcome to join us from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. for silent meditation. \nFor the past nine years\, the group has been led by Victoria Oginski\, who has been a dedicated meditator for over 45 years. She is a Buddhist and has studied with many extraordinary Buddhist masters over the years in Canada\, Nepal\, India\, and Tibet. Although informed by Buddhist principles\, the facilitation is more universal in approach and everyone is welcome. \nThere is no formal fee\, but please consider dana (donation) to VanU or the Refugee Committee.
