SUMMARY:Volunteer Orientation for Summer Children's Group
DESCRIPTION:Vancouver Unitarians is largely lay-led over the summer while ministry staff have vacation and study time in preparation for the new program year.  It is important for children of all ages to feel included and cared for no matter what time of year they attend. \nThis orientation is to support those able to volunteer to be available for children on 2 or more Sundays between June 30th and September 1st.  Orientation is offered on three dates: June 28th at 5pm\, June 29th at 6pm\, and June 30th at 12:45pm. \nSign-up Here to be on the roster and attend an orientation. Please contact Kiersten with questions or for more information. \n*All volunteers who work with children or youth require a police record check for the vulnerable sector current within three years.* There is no cost for volunteers.

DESCRIPTION:Circle Worship is an intimate and participatory style of worship featuring ritual\, togetherness\, and reflection. Unitarian Universalist youth have been creating this style of worship for decades but it is enjoyed by and accessible to all ages. \nCircle Worship is open to everyone; come fill your spirit! Wednesday\, June 5th in the Fireside Room\, 6:00-7:30 pm. Theme this month: Transitions. Children will be supported in attending and participating. \nWe will start with dinner at 6:00 pm–cheese pizza\, vegetarian noodles\, and pop will be available and folks are invited to bring food to share if you are able. Ritual starts at 6:45 and we will end by 7:30 pm. Premier David Eby (whose B.C. government must approve the change) said he agreed in principle\, but would wait for the results of the Oct. 19 provincial election before deciding. \nThe forum will discuss if we need the elected Park Board. What are the pros and cons of this move? Should it go to a public vote first? DESCRIPTION:We will hold an info night for the Senior High ages Our Whole Lives sexuality education program on Thursday\, May 30th\, at 7:00 pm. The program is aimed at ages 16-17 and/or entering grades 11 or 12 in the fall of 2024.  If you will be 15 and entering grade 10\, this may still be the right class for you depending on your peer connections–that’s what the info night is for! \nFor those who have taken the Jr. High OWL class back in 2021 and elementary OWL in 2018. The difference between Jr. High and Sr. High is as great as the difference between the elementary OWL and Jr. High. The Sr. High has more exploration of relationship dynamics and is able to meet both youth with lived experience dating and those who haven’t yet explored that dynamic. As usual\, the goal is to create a confidential space to discuss sensitive topics\, learn some things\, and have fun. \nThis program is intentionally inclusive of LGBTQ+ identities and experiences.
