Using principles that build mutual compassion and guide truthful conversations\, this workshop is designed to support dismantling racism and other oppressions in ourselves and in our institutions. \nDrawing from her books\, How to Have Antiracist Conversations and The Antiracist Heart*\, Dr. Manning will guide participants through practical tools and strategies to foster meaningful dialogues about race and systemic oppression. \nParticipants will\n\nExplore self-compassion practices for resilience in antiracist work.\nIdentify and address internalized racism and unconscious biases.\nDevelop plans to dismantle systemic barriers in their communities.\nBuild skills to create a welcoming and equitable environment\n\nThis workshop\, hosted by Vancouver Unitarians and open to all\, combines lectures\, group discussions\, and hands-on activities to equip attendees for the work of dismantling racism in their daily lives and communities. Come join Vancouver Unitarian members on their continued path towards the full justice that will create Beloved Community. \nDr. Manning’s books are available through Indigenous-owned Massy Books and through Banyen Books\, and are in the Vancouver Unitarians library. \nDr Manning will also be hosted by Massy Books\, Saturday October 5\, from 2-4 pm in the Massy Arts Society space (23 E Pender St\,Vancouver) for a book-talk and Q&A. \nAbout Dr. Manning\nRoxy Manning\, PhD\, is a clinical psychologist and certified trainer with the Center for Nonviolent Communication. As a Black Caribbean American\, she brings a unique\, intersectional perspective to her work\, focusing on transforming communication and relationships to foster justice and equity. Her writing offers practical tools for engaging in antiracist dialogue and building resilient\, compassionate communities. \nWith over 20 years of experience\, she is also a dynamic speaker and facilitator\, guiding individuals and organizations in dismantling systemic racism and fostering inclusive environments.
