SUMMARY:Exploration Sunday: Learning from Ancestors
DESCRIPTION:Exploration Sundays happen the first Sunday of each month and are meant to be an animating time for the whole congregation. The morning service launches the month’s worship and small-group theme with different explorations of that theme in programming following a light lunch. The intent is to engage everyone in the community-building and learning that this approach offers\, and make it easier for other groups to schedule events without competing programs. \nWorship Service 11:00 – 11:45 am\nNovember’s meaning making theme is  “the practice of learning from our ancestors’ experiences. Many of our ancestors lived through times of great upheaval. What can they offer us right now?” \nRev Shawn will reflect on a Home for All Souls\, and as we enter a time of meditation\, we will lift up the names of those we have loved who have died. DESCRIPTION:Vancouver Unitarians is largely lay-led over the summer while ministry staff have vacation and study time in preparation for the new program year.  It is important for children of all ages to feel included and cared for no matter what time of year they attend. \nThis orientation is to support those able to volunteer to be available for children on 2 or more Sundays between July 6th and August 31st. Orientation is offered on two dates: Thursday\, June 26th at 5:30 pm\, and Sunday\, June 29th at 12:45 pm. \nSign-up at vanu.ca/summer-orientation to be on the roster and attend an orientation. Let us gather to take a pause\, lean into rest and joy; it is what this time of year is supposed to be about. The Fireside Room will be turned over to blanket fort building–all children and young at heart are invited to play and create. The main Hall will be a space of reflection and connection over food as we turn the corner on the longest night of the year. \nWe’ll be making spaghetti for dinner. DESCRIPTION:The VU IPA and other teams have been together with the local Burmese (Myanmar) community to raise both awareness and funds in support of Burmese citizens ravaged by a military dictatorship and civil war. \nWe warmly invite you to attend our next event Sunday\, Dec. 1st.  The Burmese community will be catering a delicious lunch following the service. DESCRIPTION:BC Regional Fall Youth Gathering\nThe BC Regional Fall Gathering is a chance for UU youth from BC and beyond to get together\, have fun\, and build community. This conference is planned and led by youth\, for youth.  This year\, the RFG will be held from November 22-24 at Vancouver Unitarians. The weekend will include activities\, worship services\, opportunities to connect in large and small groups\, and more. We also make every effort to make sure all congoers feel supported and are able to participate in the ways that feel best for them\, making this gathering as inclusive\, fun\, and meaningful as possible. \nThis year’s theme is Dance Dance RevolUUtion! In this action packed weekend our activities and worships will be centered around art and how it can be used as a force for positive social change. Get ready to make new friends\, have fun\, and just maybe\, start a revolUUtion! \nYouth (ages 13-18\, grades 8-12) register at vanu.ca/youthcon-bc \nAdult sponsors (ages 25+) register at vanu.ca/youthcon-adult \nWe welcome youth from out-of-province and from the United States! \nYouth travelling to Canada from the U.S. should note the following:\n–a passport is required to enter Canada\n–youth should carry a letter from their parent/guardian giving them permission to travel to Canada with the adult they are travelling with and include the address of where they will be staying:  Vancouver Unitarians\, 949 West 49th Ave\, Vancouver\, BC V5Z 2T1\n–all folks travelling from the U.S. should have travellers health insurance coverage for the weekend in case of any medical emergency.  Insurance can be purchased from most private insurers and may be an included benefit on some health insurance plans.

DESCRIPTION:Please join the Social Justice Team\, Vancouver Peace Poppies\,  and other peace activists in Hewett Hall immediately following the Let Peace Be Their Memorial ceremony. There will be  light refreshments\, a chance to socialize\, meet event hosts and wreath layers\,  and display tables set up with information about peace building activities at VanU and beyond. \nVanU members who have recently attended peace caravans and international events will be present to tell their personal stories. \nAs 2025 will mark the 10th anniversary of the White Poppy Ceremony\, there will be a brief overview of what they are planning to do\, and an opportunity to sign up to be involved in helping plan the November 2025 event.

DESCRIPTION:Come Join us for Circle Dance \nAs November 5 is the date of the US election\, we’ll dance hopeful uplifting dances for the first half of the evening. We welcome your participation in both the silent auction and the live auction. \nRegistration – click here\nYou must have a paddle number to bid in the silent and/or live auction\, and everyone is strongly encouraged to pre-register to avoid line-ups. You will receive a registration confirmation by email with your paddle number. We are asking for a modest donation of $5.00 to help cover processing costs. \nAuction Catalogue\nThere are almost 90 donations from the VanU congregation\, and each are described in the catalogue. Those with a green background will be in the live auction. Those with a light blue background will be in the silent auction.
