Fundraising Lunch for Burma

The VU IPA, Social Justice and Refugee Committees are working together with the local Burmese (Myanmar) community to raise both awareness and funds in support of Burmese citizens ravaged by a military dictatorship and civil war.  Thank you to everyone who attended the film Myanmar: The Forgotten Revolution. Thank you as well for your generous donations.  It was a difficult film to watch though it definitely highlighted the need for international political intervention as well as humanitarian support.

We warmly invite you to attend our next event Sunday, April 7th.  The Burmese community will be catering a delicious lunch following the service. We are looking forward to a large crowd and please donate as generously as you are able.  All funds raised will be given to the Inter Pares, an international charity recognized by Canada.

Kyi Min Saw, who attends VU is courageously leading the local Burma campaign fundraising.  She will have written materials available to take away and we will also have suggestions for further political action.

Huguette Sansonet has also donated a lovely and large Burmese tapestry and we are currently thinking over how best to sell this generous donation.
