December 1 @ 12:45 pm - 2:00 pm
FreeApproaching End of Life, Starting Today: What Do I Get to Choose?
For the next in our series of programs on aging and the end-of-life, Rev. Shawn will host a conversation between Jane Slemon and Michael O’Neil, who will share their medical expertise and experience around the options and decisions available to us as we near life’s end. These life-giving lessons can be relevant to us all, even if death is nowhere on the horizon. The session will take place on December 1st at 12:45pm, in the Fireside Room. All are welcome and encouraged to RSVP here.
Jane Slemon (RN, MA in English) is recently retired from her role as Director of Care at a hospice and has a background in critical care nursing and in teaching English and Science at Emily Carr. She is a folk musician playing in various bands for concerts and dances. Michael (BA, MD, CCFP-EM, FCFP, Clinical Asst. Prof. UBC ) is a mostly retired physician teaching at UBC medical school and assisting at surgeries. He has worked for 50 years, first as a Family doctor, then as an ER doc, palliative care doctor, and then as a Hospitalist. He has had many discussions about illness and end of life care.
