Sunday Service: The City of Sisterly Love
March 3 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
The City of Sisterly Love – Emilie K. Adin
“All things being equal, we are not.” So begins the Manifesto of the Commonwealth Women in Planning Network. On March 3rd, we ask: where are women in the city, and do they feel safe, do they feel they belong? Why don’t more women design our cities? And finally, what can our Unitarian commitment to radical inclusion tell us about how we might transform our cities?
Emilie K. Adin is the President of the Planning Institute of British Columbia, an Adjunct Professor at UBC and a member of the Vancouver Unitarians. Emilie’s professional planning work was recently recognized by BIV Magazine as one of the province’s 500 Most Influential Leaders. When she’s not hanging out at her house in East Vancouver, her five-person-strong carless family is navigating the neighbourhood and beyond. Her alias for the past 25 years has been as PlanGirl, the faltering urban planning superhero, forever seeking “lessons to bring home.”
