Apartheid Free Communities

March 15 @ 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm

On March 15th, 2026, the Social Justice and Intercultural Teams will be jointly sponsoring a forum at 12:30 in the Fireside Room. The topic is: An introduction to Apartheid-Free Communities. An initiative of the American Friends Service Committee (Quakers), Apartheid-Free Communities is a global initiative for pro-humanity communities to take a stand against Apartheid in Palestine by taking a pledge online.

The UUA passed a resolution in 2024 encouraging American UU congregations to join the Apartheid-Free Communities campaign. Recently, the Cities of Burnaby and Powell River took the pledge, thereby declaring themselves the first two apartheid-free cities in Canada. Several United Churches in Vancouver have also taken the pledge.

The guest speakers are: Jeeda Musleh and Shirarose Wilensky. Jeeda is the lead organizer of Apartheid Free Communities, Canada. Shirarose is a member of Independent Jewish Voices.
