Circle Dance: Celebrating the Wisdom of Women and the Earth

March 3 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

We are on the verge of International Working Women’s Day (March 8) and just a few weeks from the Spring Equinox. Marg Piercy’s poem, A Strong Woman evokes the ways women are strong: “A strong woman is a woman determined to do something others are determined not be done…”

“Strong is what we make
each other. Until we are all strong together,
a strong woman is a woman strongly afraid.”

The Spring Equinox evokes the resilience of life, the determination to grow from seedlings to fruit.

We will share dances that bring awareness of the strength, resilience and wisdom of women and the earth. Women like Boudica/ Boadicea, a symbol of the struggle for justice and independence in Britain during the Roman Empire or Julien of Norwich, who assured those who came to see her that “all will be well,” during the black death in the middle ages.  In more recent times, Joanna Macy shared the Elm Dance to help heal the collective trauma of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. We will share these dances as well as others that are about survival, resilience and the hope of renewal that spring offers.

All are welcome to join this circle — whether you are new to circle dance or experienced. All dances will be taught.
