Exploration Sunday: Learning from Ancestors

Exploration Sundays happen the first Sunday of each month and are meant to be an animating time for the whole congregation. The morning service launches the month’s worship and small-group theme with different explorations of that theme in programming following a light lunch. The intent is to engage everyone in the community-building and learning that this approach offers, and make it easier for other groups to schedule events without competing programs.
Worship Service 11:00 – 11:45 am
November’s meaning making theme is “the practice of learning from our ancestors’ experiences. Many of our ancestors lived through times of great upheaval. What can they offer us right now?”
Rev Shawn will reflect on a Home for All Souls, and as we enter a time of meditation, we will lift up the names of those we have loved who have died. To culminate, we will create our Ancestor Shrine together for remembrance.

Exploration Groups 12:15 – 1:30 pm
The service will be followed by a light lunch and then Exploration Groups are open to interested folks of all ages. This month’s groups are:
- Becoming a Good Ancestor: Rev. Shawn will lead a program inviting each of us to consider the legacy of love we will leave behind when our lives reach their end.
- Art in the Outdoors: creating symbols of reflection and impermanance
- Circle Dance: celebrating our ancestors through movement
