The ceremony aims to broaden our Remembrance Day focus to better reflect the diversity of Canadian perspectives on war and remembrance, and the personal war experiences of many immigrant Canadians.War’s victims include the civilians who now make up an estimated 90% of conflict victims, and immense damage to the environment. We must challenge the beliefs, values and institutions that make war seem inevitable; and to urge our government to promote and fund effective non-military means of dispute resolution.
