Teenagers

Grades 8-9 and 11-12

Our Whole Lives sexuality education models and teaches caring, compassion, respect, and justice. It helps adolescents address their attitudes, values, and feelings about themselves, their sexuality, and others’ sexuality. Participants are guided by trained facilitators through an engaging curriculum that addresses topics most important to young adolescents, including those typically excluded from sexuality education and health classes.

What is special about Our Whole Lives goes beyond the information it provides, much of that is available online and in BC high school sex ed curriculum. OWL brings youth together outside of school and the social pressures inherent to it; they have a chance to delve into these topics with real conversation. OWL allows youth to examine information, identify their own values, be their authentic self, and provides time to reflect together about what is important to them.

Grades 11-12 (2007/2008 birthdays or early 2009) OWL intensive workshops over four weekends this fall and winter: Oct 5/6, Dec 7/8, Feb 8/9, Mar 8/9.

Self-worth, Sexual Health, Responsibility, Justice and Inclusivity

Our Whole Lives builds confidence around issues related to sexuality; body, pleasure, communication, safety, health, consent, relationships, gender, identity, values, sense of self, and respect.

Jr. High classes typically meet on Sunday afternoons October through May, although individual years may have an adjusted schedule based on participants availability. Sr. High classes either run twice a month or in concentrated weekend retreats. There is a required 2-hour parent orientation each time a child or teen enrolls in an Our Whole Lives series and participants are asked to make a commitment to prioritizing attendance in the program.
