She is known as the mother of Jesus—or even the Mother of God. By many, she’s called the Queen of the World and the Queen of Heaven. She’s often portrayed as a serene and silent figure, but she’s also been frequently depicted as crowned in glory and sitting on a throne. She is both a simple peasant girl and a manifestation of the feminine divine, at once, relatable and remote. Her image is instantly recognizable, and yet she feels mysterious and maybe even confusing. This Sunday, Vivian and Shawn will explore the enduring and complex meanings of Mary.
